Project in partnership with COIMA Image

Ideas can have thickness and weight and, at times, have so much consistency that they can be read among the chiaroscuro that matter generates through the folds of space. Because a good project is capable of suggesting forms even only through the skillful use of a few simple tools.

Strongly evocative, almost canceling the splendid view of the city of Milan from above, this project plays on a calm balance, as if to demonstrate that the right finish is enough to transform any envelope into paint. The sober palette is all orchestrated on the warmest tones of the earth and is inspired by the world of the great Alberto Burri and his unforgettable works.

The apartment not only follows a merely decorative logic, the space is modulated on a perfect logical rigor, and divides the living functions on two floors, of different sizes. Access is from the first level, illuminated by two terraces arranged symmetrically on the sides, it develops in a fluid and linear way. The custom kitchen, dressed in black stained ribbed wood with Ambrosia marble tops, is separated from the dining area by a full-height sliding door made of etched metal. A fifth equipped separates an intimate conversation area in the living room, furnished with a corner sofa in soft tones that plays with the irregularly shaped carpet. Protagonist in the background, a wall with plastic volumes hides the flight of stairs leading to the sleeping area on the upper floor, consisting of four bedrooms, complete with every comfort and a living room with walls covered in an impalpable “greige” fabric, paired with a two-tone sofa in a masculine style.

In the master bedroom, the mélange fabric used as a headboard is combined with a wood paneling with thin strips, a cocooning effect that is also enhanced by the presence of a marble bathtub. Intentionally minimal, the wellness corner is enhanced by the use of materials, almost as if it were a temple made entirely of stone. The haute couture interiors are echoed by a bespoke bathroom and a walk-in closet.

The tools that characterize the project are simple and effective. Textile plays an important role and appears on both vertical and horizontal walls while the wood and stone finishes highlight the soft gilding. The result is a residence with contemporary forms that winks at the artisan traditions of the past capable of withstanding time.
